Strategic Business Review  


After the exit of a long-standing CEO, Collagis were commissioned to support this not-for-profit with a full-scale strategic review to develop a new vision and future strategy to ensure ongoing and future viability of the organisation.

BRIEF 

  • Strategic: Undertake a strategic business review of operations and help the board to collectively define the future mission and goals. 
  • Tactical: Support the replacement of the CEO with immediate interim resource augmentation. Triage the operational reporting and compliance aspects of the operations.

CHALLENGES

  • CEO departure meant immediate mitigations needed to be put in place for transitional management to manage any exposure in fiscal or compliance as well as effective knowledge transfer of current state operational procedures and strategic plans. 
  • The organisation was facing growing cost of aging infrastructure & equipment making the overall profitability unclear. 
  • Local government regulations increasing the political and environmental challenges.

SOLUTION

  • Placement of an interim CEO.
  • Strategic Business Review of current state gaps and opportunities including performance, functional structure, people, process, information/work flows and tools.
  • Identification of risks and migration plans. 
  • Board Workshop Facilitation to collectively identify future vision and operating model.
  • Development of future state vision, recommendations and high level action plan to achieve vision.

RESULTS 

  • An interim CEO was identified and placed to ensure the smooth running of operations post the CEO departure, to mitigate risks and support the administrative recommendations (systems/processes) of the strategic review. 
  • A future state vision was identified and endorsed by the board.
  • A financial and operational audit was completed improving Board visibility and decision making. 
  • A strategic Review, Opportunity analysis, recommendations and a high level action plan were delivered to provide a roadmap to future financial viability and ongoing optimised operations to enable the continued mission of the not-for-profit service.
